How smart are earbuds (aka hearable)? and which features make your earbuds consider being smarts?
Heart rate monitoring (HRM)
The feature you could find in a lot of earbuds – quite far from being perfect.
Samsung Gear IconX, Bose SoundSport Pulse to be named. Personally I don’t trust the results.
Reading blood glucose level
This could be the future. Currently though Qualcomm has built their chip with the functionality to process the glocose level for headphones but it hasn’t been exploited in any headphones yet.
Hearing – Adaptive
The earbuds can assess your hearing and develop an equalizer curve just for your ears. In other words, the earbuds can learn how you listen to the sound and adapt for the best listening experience. Perhaps the NuraLoop is the first Bluetooth earbuds to announce the hearing – adaptive listening.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
Considered being smart if they can detect the noise level and filter out accordingly.
Real time translation
Unfortunately, the earbuds can’t do the real-time translation they serve as medium and your phones do the job. Similarly, triggering Siri, Google Assistant or Alexa is a function and not a smart feature.
