When purchasing earbuds, half of all consumers now choose Bluetooth over wired. Bluetooth is responsible for the trend to design out the audio jack.

The true wireless earbuds take over the mobile audio market – Apple shipped 35 million AirPods in 2018.

50% of all headphones sold today include Bluetooth.

According to TrendForce, true wireless earbuds became a rising star in the headphones market. The shipment of TWS reached 51 million units, which increased 64.5% year-on-year.

GFK’s data predicts that by 2020, the market size of TWS wireless earbuds will reach 11 billion US dollars. It is expected that with the continuous improvement of the sound and features (heart rate monitoring, noise cancelling, fitness tracking) of wireless earbuds, the penetration rate of wireless earbuds is expected to continue to increase in the future.

It is estimated that over 720 million Bluetooth headsets and headphones will be shipped in 2023. Those are the most popular devices for audio equipments.

As the Bluetooth is a must-have feature, it also creates environmental issues with lithium batteries. Most batteries used in Bluetooth devices start to degrade after 2 years of use.

With the conveniences and advances of Bluetooth I hope in the near feature we will have a new gen of battery tech that can last longer and Bluetooth chip that can manage power more efficiently.
